Two day after Cory Spedding won the British national junior final with the song The best is yet to come, ectoday.com had an interview with her. This is what the 13 year-old girl from Frizington told us…

How did you discover you were a talented singer?
I have only been singing for under a year now. I picked it up from my granddad , he taught me some scales and I went from there. I entered my first competition at Christmas, a talent show where I sang Bring him home from the musical Les Misérables…and won…wow! My second competition was a month later, singing On my own also from Les Misérables. I won….wow….wow and could spend a whole day in a record studio as my prize.

What made you enter the British Junior Eurovision Song Contest and what inspired you to write your song The best is yet to come?
My dad entered me for Eurovision. It was my dream to sing on the Eurovision. My song had to have a nice melody and a chorus that people could remember easily. I thought about all the trouble on the news. It makes me worry and I thought about how it would be so nice if people communicated with one another, didnt fight , joined hands and united together

Is there any singer or band you are looking up to?
I look up to Katie Melua , she is young and beautiful and has a wonderful voice. Also Natasha Bedingfield.

What was your first reaction after winning the British final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest?
I am still numb and cant believe. I`m singing for the United Kingdom. It is really untrue to see my big picture on the front page of the newspaper tonight in the shop. My mum and dad are so proud. My prize was to be in the British final, that was enough for me. To win it was a wonderful extra prize.

What are your expectations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Lillehammer?
Lillehammer is the same. To go and meet wonderful people, have a laugh and an adventure. Sing to everyone and just enjoy it. First place or last place, it doesnt matter to me. I have already achieved my dream.

Whats your target in your musical career?
My future… to sing on the West End in a musical. I would prefer Les Misérables. Maybe one day who knows?
