Nana Mouskouri, who participated at the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxemburg in 1963, will end her career in two years. The Greek singer will first release a 'best of' album and go on farewell tour, starting in Germany in March 2005 and ending in the United States of America in spring 2006.
At the age of 69, Nana Mouskouri starts making plans to end her singing career. The Greek singer came 8th at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Luxembourg with the song A force de prier. Before ending her career for good, Nana Mouskouri will cross the world with a farewell tour.
Mouskouri says her voice can still handle such a concert tour. “My voice is like a good old wine. It has lived and is experienced. When I was young, I feared singing and was insecure. Today I am experienced and I can take more risks.”
Mouskouri still has a lot of plans to realize after her singing career. I would like to open a school in Greece, where talents from different countries can study. Furthermore she wants to write a biography about her 45 years of career. “I have got in touch with a lot of different cultures and passed a lot of time in Germany, France and England. I have experienced a lot and a lot to tell.”
At the moment, Nana Mouskouri is in Hamburg where she's recording new songs for a 'best of' album Ich hab gelacht – Ich hab geweint (I have laughed – I have cried) which will be released on 25th October. A late birthday present for Mouskouri who celebrates her 70th birthday on 13th October.
