The last episode of the popular Israeli musical soap opera, Our song, is about to be shot tonight. The plot of this episode takes place on the stage of the 2005 Israeli Eurovision pre-selection contest, Kdam-Eurovision.
The Israeli satellite network, Yes, has broadcasted this season a very successful soap opera called Our song. The series tell the story of students in an art school, who also compete in a reality show of a Star academy format. The characters in this series, and their confrontations usually revolve around the ordinary soap narratives, but tonight the last episode will be shot with it culminating in a very 'Eurovisiony way'.
In recent episodes, the art school management and the production team of the reality show the students are taking part in, decided to send two of their most prominent students to compete in the 2005 Kdam-Eurovision. This imaginary plot was emphasized when in one of the episodes the producers of the reality show called a press conference, declaring a special collaboration between the IBA (Israeli broadcaster and EBU member) and the commercial Channel 2 (imaginary since most Israelis know this would never happen in real life).
This Eurovision-plot is very up to date with the circumstances, as one of the 'contestants' in the Kdam-Eurovision said in a recent episode: “My mother is hysterical, she has already started looking for a hotel in Kiev…”. The series will come to an end on September 6th, when the episode which is shot today, will be broadcasted. The two stars of the series will compete against each other on the Kdam's stage. One of the contestants is played by Ninet Tayeb (the girl pictured in the middle), who already won the true Israeli Kohav Nolad (Star academy format) last year. Ninet was considered to be a lead candiadte to represnt Israel in the 2004 real Eurovision Song Contest, and a lot of fans also see her as a candidate for next year to represent Israel on the real stage in Kiev.
