August marks the beginning of All-Ukrainian Selection Contest for the right to represent Ukraine at the jubilee Eurovision Song Contest 2005. This time, unlike the previous two, the whole country will be able to take part in the process. The organizers note that all candidates, whether well-known or beginners, have equal possibilities to find themselves on the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest. The main factor is the talent.
From August to mid September the first stage of the selection will take place. The phone number to suggest the candidates is to be announced, and all applications will be considered. It is also possible to be self-promoted. The main organizer of this selection is the National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU), which invites all persons, wishing to take part in the pre-selection, to submit their phonograms. Vice-president of NTU Evgen Kalenskiy regards the final to be the Mini-Eurovision Song Contest with live broadcasting, Internet, sms, and telephone voting.
As was reported, the name of the selected singer will be announced on 27th February 2005. This day the final will take place in the Kiev Sports Palace with 20 singers performing. And the audience then will have 15 minutes to make their final choice. By the way, according to Mr. Kalenskiy, this very Sports Palace is the place that the EBU representatives, who visited Kiev not so long ago, considered the most suitable for the Contest to be hosted, while the final decision has not been made yet.
