Ruslana's Eurovision Song Contest winner Wild dances has been released on music channel The Box, ahead of it's single release on 7th June. The channel is said to have helped to launch the Spice Girls with their debut video Wannabe through constant airplay, and Ruslana will be hoping to launch a successful career in the same way.
The UK has the largest singles industry in the world, and should Ruslana break through in the UK, she will be bucking the trend of recent Eurovision Song Contest winners. Dana International was the last winner to break into the top 20, reaching the 13th spot in 1998. Charlotte Nilsson reached spot 22 in 1999. The last Eurovision winner, not from the United Kingdom, to achieve a top 10 hit in the UK was Johnny Logan, who stayed at number 2 for four weeks in 1987 with Hold me now.
Viewers of The Box can support Ruslana by selecting her song. Simply tune into The Box (Channel 449 on Sky Digital), and call 09056 525 111, selecting song code '888'. Calls cost £1, and if you are under 18 or not the telephone account holder, get permission before calling.
