Former Modern Talking singer and SSDSGPS juror Thomas Anders will read the German points on 15 May. The singer will also host the TV show Countdown Eurovision prior to the final, which includes, amongst others, a performance by – Thomas Anders!
Originally, Jörg Pilawa, host of the national final Germany 12 points! was designated to host the Countdown Eurovision from the Reeperbahn in Hamburg. Due to a tight schedule, he had to cancel, so NDR asked the former singer of pop band Modern Talking to fill in.
Thomas Anders was a juror in SSDSGPS, the casting show which led to the nomination of Maximilian Mutzke as the singer of Stefan Raab's entry Can't wait until tonight, which won the German final. “Of course I will cross my fingers for our candidate Max”, Anders said.
Other musical guests of Countdown Eurovision (20:15 CET on ARD) are Yvonne Catterfeld, girl group Wonderwall, Pop Idol winner Elli and rock band Scorpions.
