Max has won the German national final, Germany 12 points, with the song Can't wait until tonight. He was joined in the final by dance sensation Scooter, with their song Jigga Jigga.

The show kicked off with a performance from Patrick Neo, and the show continued with each of the 10 songs being of a very high standard and of exceptional quality. This year saw a change as respectable stars took to the stage in an attempt to find Germany a winning song. The show also included 3 urban influenced acts from female rapper Sabrina Setlur singing Liebe, boyband Overground singing Der letzte Stern and WestBam feat Afrika Islam with Dancing with the rebels. A live link up with a reporter in Istanbul was also featured, as viewers were given a guide to Istanbul's nightlife, culture and rich history.

After performances in the interval act by Rosenstolz and The Ten Tenors, who performed a medley of songs written by Ralph Siegel, it was announced that Max and Scooter had reached the final after gaining the highest number of votes in the first round of voting.

Then after further performances by legend Lionel Ritchie and Turkish pop star Mustafa Sandal singing his massive hit Araba, Max and Scooter took the stage as the hosts announced the final result. NDR stated that they will only publish results of the second voting.

Max became a part of the contest after winning the show SSDSGPS, a contest held by Stefan Raab to select an entry for the show Germany 12 points. The single is also number one in the German charts this week. The winning song is eclectic and soulful and clearly jazz influenced.

As a part of the Big Four, Germany has a secured place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 15 May.
