RTÉ and ShinAwil Productions have confirmed that the Irish final will take place over two nights, 6th and 7th March in the Helix Theatre, Dublin. The Irish final concludes the TV talent show You're a Star.

The song list of the final is also close to completion. George Murphy will sing The moon going home, written by John Spillane. Chris Doran will sing If the world stops turning, written by Bryan McFadden, member of Westlife. James Kilbane’s song title is unknown known, however it is written by Charlie McGettigan. Jean Elliot will possibly be singing a song entitled Summer rain, however this is only a working title. This uptempo song is a result of the shows producers inviting unknown composers to submit songs.

Despite receiving some harsh criticism from guest judge Ryan Tubridy after his performance at The Helix on Sunday, Chris Doran looks the hot favourite to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. He topped the last public phone poll on the talent show, knocking previous favourite George Murphy from the top spot.

Ireland is one of the Eurovision's most successful participants and their last victory came in 1996, following three other victories in the nineties. Ireland are straight through to the final on 15th May after a successful placing in 2003.
