Charly and Bas & Joel won the fifth heat of the Dutch Nationaal Songfestival 2004. The fifth heat was a wildcard round, where 6 of the participants had a second chance to reach the final.
Lenny Kuhr, who represented the Netherlands at the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest with the song De Troubadour, joined the jury as guest member to make this wildcard round more exciting.
During the show, it was clear that there was a lot more tention between the hosts, the audience and the jury members.
Both the televoters and the jury chose Charly with the song She'll take your breath away. Therefore the televoters' second choice, Bas & Joel ft. VoiceMale also won a ticket to the final with Celeste, which is to take place this Sunday.
