Latest rumours see a return of the trash Schlager act to the German preselection: in today's edition of the leading German tabloid Bild, Schlager singer Costa Cordalis suggested to submit a duet with his Jungle-Show fellow and former tv news anchorwoman Susan Stahnke.
Both Costa (aged 59) and Susan (36) were participants of the highly successful TV show I'm a celebrity – get me out of here! on RTL, where several has-been media personalities had to survive a jungle camp in Australia and had to go through some heavy tasks, like being showered with roaches and the like. Cordalis won the show.
Party Schlager singer Cordalis, also participant of the German final of 1980, where he came second with the Siegel-written Pan, released a single right afterwards (Junglebeat), which, on the wave of the Jungle-Show hype, seems to become a hit and already got airplay on music channel Viva. Former tagesschau (Germany's leading tv news) anchorwoman and wannabe-actress Susan Stahnke confirmed today that Cordalis offered her a duet. Costa to Bild: “Susan is a highly talented singer. I would go to the contest with her right away.”
There are still four wild cards to give away for the German preselection. One precondition to recieve such a wild card is having a hit in the Top 100 sales charts with the supposed entry. Given the recent hype around the Jungle-show and the novelty of this duet, this seems no impossible task. Broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) mentioned the rumour on its website today, but neither denied nor confirmed it, although it could damage the recent attempt of the broadcaster to present more serious acts in its national final.
