The European Broadcasting Union changed the description of the Eurovision Song Contest. What used to be an event to “promote European music”, is now more focussed on the television aspect.
“The Eurovision Song Contest is a state-of-the-art, world-class television production of a competition between musical acts representing countries of the Members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU)”, is the new description for the annual contest.
Some are disappointed because of the new description, because it takes away a piece of nostalgy. On the other hand, it seems that the new description fits more to the Eurovision Song Contest nowadays.
