NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster, has unveiled the 8 candidates competing at the MGP 2026 Wildcard Selection Duels.

NRK unveiled 8/9 competing acts at MGP 2026 yesterday and it has unveiled the 8 competing acts for the Wildcard Duel selection for the 9th spot at the Norwegian national final for Eurovision 2026. A total of 4 duels will take place during from 20-23rd January. The winners of the four duels will face each another at 2 duels scheduled to be held on the 24th and 25th of January. The winners of the second round of duels will battle for the 9th spot at MGP 2026 on the 26th of January. The 9th finalist will be announced on Tuesday 27th January.

How the Duels will work?

Two artists will face off each day, with one of them advancing to the next round. The voting window will be open for 24 hours from 10:00 AM to 10:00 AM the following day. Voting takes place at delta.nrk.no .

The four winners of the duels from Tuesday to Friday, the quarterfinals, will meet for new duels on Saturday and Sunday. The last two artists remain for the decisive duel that starts on Monday morning.

On Tuesday, January 27th, we will know who will walk away with the victory in the MGP Cup and the last final spot in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix.

MGP 2026

Melodi Grand Prix 2026 will consist of a single show with a total 9 acts battling for the golden ticket to Eurovision 2026. The show will be hosted by Ronny Brede Aase, Marte Stokstad and Markus Neby. MGP 2026 will be held at the Hakons Hall in Lillehammer, Norway on Saturday 28th February.
