In the wake of the latest developments in Canada and the country’s wish to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest, ESCToday reached out to the EBU in order to enlighten us further on this matter. The EBU has given ESCToday a statement regarding this matter.
The Federal Government of Canada has included the Eurovision Song Contest in its federal budget for 2025 with the option to explore participation at the Eurovision Song Contest. ESCToday contacted the EBU in order to shed more light on this issue and received a statement from Mr. Martin Greeen (ESC Director).
The Eurovision Song Contest Director Martin Green gave ESCToday the following statement:
We’re always excited to know that broadcasters want to be part of the world’s largest live music show. The Canadian conversation with CBC is in its very early stages and we look forward to continuing our discussions with them.
From the EBU’s statement we understand that CBC is in talks with the EBU for a potential participation at the Eurovision Song Contest, but its still early days yet to know when and how these talks will materialise.
CBC, the Canadian national broadcaster is an ASSOCIATE Member of the EBU and will require a special invite from the EBU to compete at the Eurovision Song Contest.
