Estonia’s jury votes in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 were based on the opinions of just four people, after singer Alika was disqualified for breaching contest rules. The Estonian broadcaster ERR confirmed that her votes were removed after she publicly revealed her preferences ahead of the final.
Under the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) rules, jury members must remain impartial and refrain from expressing public opinions about the competing entries before the contest concludes. Alika, who represented Estonia at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 and served as a juror in 2025, violated this regulation, leading to her votes being invalidated.
As a result, Estonia’s jury score in the final was calculated from the remaining four jurors instead of the standard five.
Estonia’s strong showing in Basel
Despite the incident, Estonia enjoyed one of its most successful results in recent years with Tommy Cash’s Espresso Macchiato. The country placed third in the Grand Final held on 17 May in Basel, Switzerland, marking a major achievement on the Eurovision stage.
Austria took the trophy home, with JJ winning the 69th Eurovision Song Contest with Wasted love in a tight competition.
