After 20 years leading RTBF at the Eurovision Song Contest, Leslie Cable will step down following the 2026 edition. Michaël De Lil will take over as the new head of delegation, with a smooth transition already underway.
Since 1957, Belgium has alternated between RTBF and VRT for its Eurovision Song Contest entries, changing broadcaster, language and selection method each year. In 2025, VRT has chosen Red Sebastian with Strobe Lights under Birgit Simal‘s leadership. RTBF will then return in 2026, with Michaël De Lil working alongside Leslie Cable during her final year to ensure a smooth handover.
Leslie Cable’s legacy
Leslie Cable has been involved with Eurovision since 2005 and helped revive Belgium’s results by sending talents from The Voice Belgique. Success stories include Roberto Bellarosa – Love kills (2013), Loïc Nottet – Rhythm inside (2015), Blanche – City lights (2017) and Jérémie Makiese – Miss you (2022), all reaching the Saturday final.
