Sweden in Eurovision

Sweden is alongside Ireland the most successful country in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Scandinavian powerhouse has took the trophy 7 times, a record. Victories came in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023, and Sweden hosted the contest after each victory. In 63 appearances Sweden has appeared in 62 finals, only missing out the 2010 final.

Loreen has won the contest twice for Sweden, becoming the first woman and second person overall after Johnny Logan to lift the trophy twice (2012 and 2023). Sweden also notably brought to the history books of the contest the band ABBA, who won the contest with Waterloo in 1974 before becoming a world-wide phenomenon.

In 2024 the duo Marcus and Martinus represented Sweden on home soil with the entry Unforgettable. They finished in 9th place with 174 points.
