The Icelandic broadcaster RÚV announced that no televised national final will take place in 2004. The song that will represent Iceland will be selected internally by a jury team of musicians.

Everybody is allowed to submit songs until the broadcaster's office until 17th November. The RÚV will only select the song from a public sumission, the performer will be chosen internally.

It's known that Iceland have to save on the public broadcaster's budget, which is typical for one of the richest countries in the world.

Iceland placed itself directly for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 final, on 15th May in Istanbul.
