This friday, September 26, DRS SF – the TV channel serving the German- and Rhaeto-Romanic speaking communities of multilingual Switzerland – is airing the kick-off episode of its casting show MusicStar. Main episodes are to be broadcasted between December and February. The winner of MusicStar will be offered a record deal – and a chance to compete in the national final.

The first episode of MusicStar, which is to be aired September 24 from 20:00 CET on SF1, is meant to introduce the show. Aspirants, who have to speak German and have to own Swiss citizenship, can make their application afterwards per e-mail.

The Swiss final, which is to be held on March 6, will be a classical national final with 12 contestants, four of which each of the three Swiss broadcasters TSR (French speaking), RTSI (Italian speaking) and DRS (German speaking) can apply. TSR and RTSI are rumoured to select their contestants internally. DRS is going to send the four best MusicStar participants, as Toni Wachter, head of show at the broadcaster, confirmed to esctoday.com.
