All songs for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 have been selected. During the weeks between the national final season and the actual Eurovision Song Contest, we will introduce all 43 entries in random order. We are half way through and part thirty of the series is dedicated to the Georgian entry.

Basic information

Performer: Eldrine
Song: One more day
Language: English
Music: DJ BE$$
Lyrics: DJ Rock, Mikheil Chelidze
Draw:

9th in the first semi final

The song

One more day is an up-tempo rock/hip-hop song. Through the lyrics the protagonist tells that she surrenders to her fate despite an obviously tough background story:

Another forbidden sensation
Another emotional flare
Down with the fake hesitation
Gee, yeah, – I am ready to pay
Pay for the hopeless despair
Gonna live one more day of my fate

The performers and songwriters

Mikheil Chelidze, Irakli Biblashvili, Beso Tsikhelashvili and David Changoshvili founded a band called BIOS in 2007. In 2010, they were joined by Tamar Shekiladze and vocalist Tako Vadachkoria. The same year they competed in the Tiblisi music festival with their first single Haunting.

With the song One more day, they entered the Georgian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, which they won. After their victory, Tako Vadachkoria left the band. She was replaced by Sophio Toroshelidze, who is known as a finalist in the TV show Star Academy. Furthermore, she was a backing singer for Georgian representative Sofia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. In 2011, Eldrine's debut album Fake reality was released. One more day was co-writte by band members Beso Tsikhelashvili (DJ BE$$) and Mikheil Chelidze.

The national selection

Seven acts competed in the Georgian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. The winner was chosen by televoting.

Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Georgia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 finishing 12th in the final. After an 11th place in Belgrade, the country withdrew from the competition the year after as their song We don't wanna put in was not accepted by the EBU and the artists refused to change the message. Last year, they achieved their first top ten result.

Statistics

This will be Georgia's fourth participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. For the first time, the country is not represented by a female solo performer but by a band. On the other, hand it will be the fourth Georgian entry to be performed entirely in English.

One more day is the ninth song to be performed in the first semi final. It is preceeded by the mid-tempo acoustic pop song from Switzerland and it is followed by the guitar ballad from Finland. A clear advantage might therefore be the fact that the highly energetic song is performed in the middle of two calmer ones.

We wish Georgia and Eldrine the best of luck and a good result in Düsseldorf!
