The question of who’s going to represent Estonia at this year’s Eurovision is about to be answered in two days. This Saturday sees the Grand Final of the annual national selection event of the country, Eesti Laul, where a total of 12 acts will be thrown into battle for the coveted Eurovision ticket. But who will be the ones who will make the show even more spectacular with their performances?
Past participants in the line-up
Ahead of Saturday’s final, the Estonian broadcaster ETV revealed the names of the 3 artists that are going to return to the competition’s stage, this time without stress, as they will appear as the special guests!
Last year’s Eesti Laul winner Elina Nechayeva could not be absent from the final show. Following her victory at Estonia’s national final, Elina flew to Lisbon and performed her extraordinary song La forza, providing Estonia with one of their best results in recent years, coming 8th in the Grand Final.
A former winner of the competition is also going to take to the stage this Saturday. The Estonian 2011 hopeful Getter Jaani will be present at the final of Eesti Laul. Getter represented Estonia in Düsseldorf and ended up 24th at the final, with her entry Rockefeller street.
Last but not least! One of the first representatives of the Baltic state, Ivo Linna has been announced to be among the broadcaster’s guests for the show. Ivo Linna flew the Estonian flag at Eurovision 1996 in Oslo, where he sang the song Kaelakee Hääl, along with Maarja-Liis Ilus. They had come 5th and are still one of the country’s most successful entries to the contest. He tried once again to defend Estonia at our beloved competition, when he ended up 5th at Eesti Laul 2017.
The Grand Final of Eesti Laul 2019 will be hosted at the Saku Suurhall venue in the Estonian capital, Tallinn. Saku Suurhall has also staged the Eurovision Song Contest in 2002.
