70.000 votes have been cast already and the first trends can be revealed regarding the BigPoll 2011. What have the users of esctoday predict for BigPoll?

Esctoday users have been asked to predict the Semifinal 1 and Semifinal 2 results outcome and for the first time in BigPoll's history, to predict the final positions of the complete participants list.

The votes are being saved in the BigPoll's database and they are filtered by 5 scripts. The first one verifies the provenance of each vote coming in (by an accurate IP tracing system) and forwards this to the second script. Next process to be done is to clean up the votes given from home countries to themselves. The third script manages the incoming clean votes and sorts them by country and adds them to the final pool of votes. The fourth script does the hardest work which is to transform the votes to the current Eurovision point system (12 10 8 etc). The final script is separating the results in two tables. The one table (1st Semifinal participants table) shows the votes given by the countries taking part in each semifinal, though the other table (Global Votes table) shows all the votes given by the countries where the users voted from. There are also various scripts showing the trends of BigPoll 2011. For now, we can reveal some of the results:

Semifinal 1:
The countries currently being in top10 are (in alphabetical order):

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Croatia
  • Georgia
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Russia
  • Turkey

Even though this list is coming from the 1st Semifinal participants table, there is no big difference regarding the Global table, except of the second and third position, which are swapped. At this moment it can be revealed that Lithuania, Malta, Portugal and San Marino are (alphabetical order) the bottom 4 countries of the semifinal.

Semifinal 2:
The countries currently being in top10 are (in alphabetical order):

  • Austria
  • Bosnia & Herzegovina
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Ireland
  • Israel
  • Romania
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden
  • The Netherlands

One more time the difference between the results of the countries with right to vote in second semifinal and the Global table is zero, apart from the fact that positions 5 and 6 are swapped. Yet we have to reveal the bottom 4 countries of the semifinal, which are (in alphabetical order) Belarus, Belgium, FYR Macedonia and Moldova.

43 Participants:
We can't reveal who is the final winner according to our readers' precitions, but we can reveal some of the trends of this voting poll in order to trigger all of you to predict the final lineup having in mind all the factors that can affect the actual voting in Eurovision Song Contest (Diaspora votes, neighbor votes, blocks etc). The top5 include two of the Big5 countries. The rest 8 pots are taken by the semifinal participants in half (4 from semifinal 1 and 4 from semifinal 2).
