Who’s gonna be the one for Latvia? The national broadcaster of the country LTV is now disclosing the 16 acts that will fight for the honour to represent the Baltic country at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel.
From 83 to 16 songs
Initially, 83 entries were submitted to the broadcaster for their 2019 national selection event Supernova 2019. Following a first evaluation round, a second round took place, with a total of 33 entries being evaluated and shortlisted to 16, by an expert jury panel and the people’s jury, through an open online voting.
The general opinion of the judges and Universal Music Group, the record company that is collaborating with the broadcaster for the Supernova project seems quite positive. DJ Rudd, who served as the jury’s head stated:
Every year we are getting closer to the main idea of the competition – to create” Supernova “as a platform for the development of pop music in Latvia”, where the team gets the chance to show itself to a larger audience at the Eurovision Song Contest. Participation in Supernova can be one of the steps in the plan of conquering the world of musicians.
