Broadcaster MTVA has unveiled Hungary’s A Dal 2019 hopefuls, featuring newcomers and some familiar faces.

The Eurovision 2019 season is taking shape across Europe and today we are heading to Hungary! Broadcaster MTVA has presented the 30 contestants for the 2019 edition of the widely popular selection A Dal (“The Song”). A Dal has been successfully used as the Hungarian platform to choose the country’s Eurovision representative since 2012.

The contestants

Among the participants of A Dal 2019 are two artists who both did very well on the Eurovision stage before: András Kállay-Saunders, who achieved an honourable 5th place in Eurovision 2014’s Grand Final, returns as part of the group The Middletonz, while Joci Pápai will venture in A Dal again following his respectable 8th place in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2017.

We also see the return of A Dal veterans such as Gergő Oláh, Leander Kills and yesyes, besides many fresh newcomers.

Hungary at Eurovision 2018

Hungary’s national selection A Dal 2018 was won by metalcore and post-hardcore band AWS, consisting of Örs Siklósi, Bence Brucker, Dániel Kökényes, Soma Schiszler and Áron Veress. The band subsequently represented their country at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal, with the song Viszlát nyár (“Goodbye, summer”).

Delivering an explosive and fiery stage performance in semi-final 2, AWS progressed to the Grand Final, eventually placing 21st with 93 points.
