The Dutch public broadcaster NOS (Nederlandse Omroep Stichting) had it's 50th anniversary. October 2, 1951 the first broadcast was transmitted.

In a special television evening there is special attention for Eurovision. The marriage of former Dutch queen Juliana was broadcasted by the EBU and also several football matches were broadcasted.

The NOS also showed scenes from various Eurovision Song Contests, with among them the three contest with Sandra Reemer (Xandra).

The Netherlands is one of the passive participants of the contest this year.
