The first Spanish Eurovision gala was the 2nd most watched television show on Friday night prime time in Spain. Quite a sucess indeed! Taking into account that there are around 25 digital terrestrial channels in Spain, this is a very positive sign. Destino Eurovisi&oacuten had 2 million viewers and was only surpassed by Telecinco's Friday night chat show Sálvame Deluxe.

It was somewhat of a gamble for TVE to air the Spanish Eurovision 2011 selection gala on a Friday night, taking into account that private channels Antena 3 and Telecinco are the most watched channels on Friday nights with their chat shows: DEC (Antena3) and Sálvame Deluxe (Telecinco). The Eurovision shows have kicked off with a marvellous start, being the 2nd most watched show last Friday night.

Destino Eurovisión 2011 was aired live on TVE 1 and TVE International Europe and a taped version was aired on TVE Internatianal America1 and 2, and a repeat was aired on TVE Interantional Europe again. Thus not only Spanish viewers watched the show, but viewers all over the world. The next Destino Eurovisión 2011 gala is scheduled to be held in Barcelona next Friday the 4th of February at the Sant Cugat Studios in Sant Cugat, Barcelona, and will be aired live on TVE1 and TVE International at 22:15 CET.
