Swedish popstar Lena Philipsson returns as solo artist in February, as interval act in Melodifestivalen 2011. She will perform in Linkoping. Lena also releases a comeback single next month and is currently working on a new album that will be released this autumn.
Lena has competed in Melodifestivalen four times before and all the songs has become swedish Schlager classics: Kärleken är evig (1986), Dansa i neon (1987), Om igen (1988) and 2004 winner Det gör ont/It hurts.
The singer has for a long time been in the top of SVT's wish list of contestants. Now instead she follows The Ark's example and becomes one of the stars participating in the interval acts. She will be entering the stage of Melodifestivalen 19th of February in Linköping.
SVT's project manager Thomas Hall says: I'm pleased that she will be a part of this, she is one of our greatest and most beloved stars.
Lena will aslo do video features together with famous actor Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break, The Lost World: Jurassic Park) for the show.
Lena has performed as interval act before, in 2000 togther with stars like Björn Skifs, Carola, Lotta Engberg, Lasse Holm and more, and in 2003 she did duets with Charlotte Perrelli.
In 2005 she did a medley of her schlager hits and in 2006 she was the host of Melodifestivalen.
After the success with Det gör ont in 2004 she released two succesful albums, written and produced by Swedish popstar Orup. They also did a show tour together. But now, after seven years of working together, they decided to part. Lena has instead teamed up with producer, songwriter and hiphop star Magnus Lidehäll (famous from Afasi & Filthy). Magnus has writtern songs for stars as Charlee, Alexandra Burke, Promoe and Kylie Minogue. She has also parted with SonyBMG and are now signed to Universal Music.
First single is called Idiot and according to Niklas Torsell on Universal Music it will be a song for 2011, updated Philipsson-sound that you can dance too. This will be her first solo single since 2006.
They are also working on a full-length album that will be released this autumn.
The Ark, Nanne Grönwall, Christer Sjögren and Peter Stormare will also take part of Melodifestival as interval acts.
