Tonight, the first semifinal of the 2011 Icelandic national selection for Eurovision, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins, will take place. Five acts will perform tonight, but only two of them will win a spot in the final.

The show

Iceland continues to use the formula of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins to choose their representative for Eurovision.The procedure comprises three semifinals and a final. Five hopefuls will compete in each semifinal, becoming finalists two from each heat. The Icelandic representative in Düsseldorf will be known on February 12th.
