The Spanish national broadcaster TVE, is currently very busy with the organization of the Spanish Eurovision 2011 National Selection. The broadcaster has chosen 80 songs from the more than 1,100 received. On the 20th of January TVE will annouce the 20 lucky songs that will compete to represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. Thus these 80 songs will be shortlisted to 20.

The Spanish Eurovision national selection will kick off on the 28th of January with its 1st semi final in Barcelona. 24 hopeful candidates will battle to qualify for the grand final in order to represent Spain in Düsseldorf. Anne Igartiburu will host all the 4 Eurovision 2011 Spanish galas, which will be aired live on TVE.

TVE has shorlisted the candidate potential songs from more than 1,100 to 80. Now the broadcaster will have to shortlist yet again from 80 to 20. The broadcaster will make an official announcent on the 20th of January where it will reveal the 20 candidate songs which will compete to represent Spain.

UPDATE. TVE has changed the broadcast date for the first semifinal. It is now scheduled to be held on FridayJanuary 28th.
