The Israelis who participated in the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest did not face any success.

Israeli entrant, Lior Narkis, gained only 17 points (from Russia, Spain, France and Greece) and ended in the 19th position. This result disqualifies Israel from the grand final on 2004 in Turkey. Israeli broadcaster (IBA) will now not only have to face the qualifying round of 2004, but also admit a 4th year in row when the country failes in the contest (22nd in 2000, 16th in 2001 and 12th in 2002).

Israeli Svika Pick, who composed the Ukrainian song Hasta la vista did not succeed as well, as Olexander gained only 30 points and the 14th position.

The only comfort for Israel in the outcome of the contest is that for the first time ever, the flight to the next Eurovision Song Contest will be short and direct…
