Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT have confirmed today their participation in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Artists are invited to submit their entries until January 3rd.

LRT will internally select some of the submitted entries to participate in the national selection process. There is not much more information at this stage -it is yet unknown the format of the 2011 selection procedure in Lithuania, as well as the dates on whichit will take place.

Back on November 12th, esctoday.com reported that the likelihood for Lithuania to participate in Eurovision 2011 was 90%, according to the country's Head of Delegation Audrius Girzadas. The broadcaster LRT was holding talks with potential sponsors in order to secure their Eurovision plans. A year ago, Lithuania was seriously in danger of not entering the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest due to the broadcaster LRT did not have enough money to fund their participation. Finally, an agreement with communications company Teo LT was reached and hence Lithuania secured their spot in Oslo.
