Undoubtedly, quite a big and interesting Eurovision weekend is ahead! Among the special events that are scheduled to take place on the following two days, is the first round of the Icelandic national selection procedure, Söngvakeppnin, which is returning tonight with its first semi-final, live from the Háskólabíó conference hall.

The show is going to air live at 20:45 CET (19:45 local time) and you may watch it via:

Who are the participants?

Not long ago, the Icelandic national broadcaster RÚV announced the 12 selected acts that will take part in this year’s national selection, in the hope of flying the island’s flag in Lisbon. These 12 acts were subsequently allocated into the the semi-final shows.

The running order for tonight’s semi-final is as follows:

  1. Þórunn Antonía – Ég mun skína
  2. Tómas Helgi Wehmeier & Sólborg Guðbrandsdóttir – Ég og þú
  3. Ari Ólafsson – Heim
  4. Heimilistónar – Kúst og fæjó
  5. Fókus hópurinn – Aldrei gefast upp
  6. Þórir Geir Guðmundsson & Gyða Margrét Kristjánsdóttir – Brosa

Each semi-final sees a total of 3 acts qualify to the competition’s grand final, scheduled to take place on 3 March at the Laugardalshöll arena of Reykjavik.

  • 10/02: Semi-final 1
  • 17/02: Semi-final 2
  • 10/03: Grand Final

Iceland will be competing in the first half of the first semi-final evening on 8 May. The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place on 8, 10 and 12 May at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
