All songs for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 have been selected. During the weeks between the national final season and the actual Eurovision Song Contest, we will introduce all 39 entries in random order. Part twenty-eight of the series is dedicated to the entry of Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Basic information

Performer: Vukašin BrajiÄ
Song: Thunder and lightning
Language: English
Music: Dino Šaran
Lyrics: Dino Šaran
Draw: 8th in the first semi final

The song

Thunder and lightning is a mid-tempo/up-tempo rock song. The songwriter has explained that the song is "about co-existence and tolerance. The lyrics are introspective and talk about the relationship between two people, but this can be applied to a strained relationship between any two subjects."

Only anger will remain
And it doesn't seem to me
We're each other's better side
These days

This is the time to melt the ice
Off our lips and off our hearts
Thunder and lightning holding hands
Let's overcome the past

The performer

Vukašin BrajiÄ joined his first band Affect in 2003, when he was living in Belgrade, Serbia. Although they recorded some promotional songs, they mainly performed live. After Affect was put on hiatus in 2007, he founded the acoustic duo Lucky Luke with Marko MariÄ. Soon after, he competed in the talent show Oparacija Trijumf, which is a joint project of broadcasters from Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro and Croatia. He proceeded to the 15th live show of the programme, which was the final, and he eventually finished second.

After this success, he founded OT Bend with other alumnis of the show Nikola Paunovi, Nikola Sari and ore Gogov. They entered the Serbian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song Blagoslov za kraj. They won the semi final and finished second in the final, despite winning the televoting. The band has been on tour since performing in various festivals.

Vukašin BrajiÄ was chosen internally to represent his native country Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. His song was announced to be Munja i grom, but it was later confirmed that he will perform the English version of the song called Thunder and lightning in Oslo.

The songwriter

Thunder and lightning was written by Edin-Dino Šaran, who is famous in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia. He has written songs for acts like Halid BešliÄ, Crvena jabuka and Luka NižetiÄ as well as 2010 Croatian Eurovision Song Contest representative Vanna.

The national selection

Both singer and song were selected internally. During a special show called BH Eurosong, Vukašin BrajiÄ performed both the Bosnian and the English version of the song. Later it was confirmed, that he will sing in English in Oslo.

Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest

Bosnia & Herzegovina debuted in the EurovisionSong Contest as an independant country in 1993 having finished second in the Eastern Europe semi final. However, it would take until 1999 that the country reached the top ten of a Eurovision Song Contest final. Other top ten placings came in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009 and 2006 also marks the country's most successful year with a second place in the semi final and a third place in the final. Entries by the broadcaster from Bosnia & Herzegovina also took part under flag of Yugoslavia in 1964, 1965, 1973, 1976 and 1981.

Bosni i Hercegovini i Vukašinu BrajiÄu želimo svu sreÄu i dobar rezultat u Oslu!
