The recent Eurovision reference group meeting of the EBU, which took place in Amsterdam, has seen more plans agreed for the 2002 Contest.
We have studied in detail the preparations for Eurovision 2002 as presented by Juhan Paadam, the executive producer, and we are confident that ETV will produce a highly professional show”, said Mrs. Christine Marchal-Ortiz, coordinator of the contest.
The 2002 contest will officially be staged as a co-production between ETV and the Swedish broadcaster SVT, who hosted the competition in 2000 (Stockholm).
Another point of dicussion was an idea of Polish fans to count the votes of the passive participants as 25th country. After a long discussion, the reference group decided that would cost to much time to fit in the three-hour formula of the contest.
Another detail…the rules for the 2002 contest are to be published within a few weeks.
