With one more day to go until Greece choose their representative for the 2010 Eurovision song Contest, esctoday.com met with two of this year's candidates Yiorgos Alkaios and the Emigre band.
Yiorgos Alkaios is a well known name in the Greek music scene. This year he takes part in the running for the Eurovision Song Contest with Opa, a distinctively ethnic beat he wrote himself. Yiorgos spoke to Russell Davies in Athens about his song and more. He admits he is quite nervous about tomorrow as the competition is quite tough with many good songs. Yiorgos believes that due to the current situation in the world and Greece, the people just need to say Opa and move on. He presents his friends and assures us there will be no plate breaking on stage.
Emigre are a seven member band (cut down to six for Eurovision purposes) from Thessaloniki. Although relatively new in the Greek music scene, they are quite popular and have played together with some quite resounding names locally. Emigre together with Nektarios Tyrakis, the lyricist of Touch me deep inside who has already taken part in the Eurovision Song Sontest twice with Shake it and Love me tonight, spoke to esctoday.com. The band believe in their song and they state they have some aces up their sleeves for the night of Ellinikos Telikos (Greek Final). Their performance promises to be very theatrical.
