Sharon den Adel, frontwoman of the internationally acclaimed symphonic metal band Within Temptation, is the latest artist to join the Dutch Eurovision rumour mill.

Cryptic messages on the official Facebook pages and websites of Within Temptation and its frontwoman Sharon den Adel have fuelled the speculations among both the band’s fans and Eurovision enthusiasts: this Friday, vocalist Sharon den Adel will release a mysterious official statement – yet about what exactly is still unsure, causing quite a stir among the groups’ followers.

However, Dutch newspaper AD came forth with the exciting news that Sharon den Adel might very well be the artist to represent the Netherlands at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal.

The singer would focus more on solo material and might possibly be working on a song for Eurovision, which fits the descriptions on Sharon den Adel’s official Facebook page, on which she has shared mysterious lyrics and hashtags:

All is shrouded in secrecy as yet. In the past, Within Temptation has been contacted to participate in Eurovision, but as a group refused because they would have to forsake playing their instruments live. Moreover, they somewhat feared that a possible participation in Eurovision might estrange them from their fan-base.

Frontwoman Sharon den Adel has become milder towards Eurovision, as she has said that she would consider writing a song for another artist. Since she has successfully ventured outside the metal-scene, without estranging the fan base, the artist might very well be prepared to add Eurovision to her resume.

According to sources, Sharon den Adel may very well combine her haunting, sensual vocals with a DJ. The artist already had a hit together with popular Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren, In and out of love, and they are considered to be a Dutch Eurovision dream-team:
