United Kingdom: Bonnie Tyler reaches number 1 for solar eclipse

The British entrant to Eurovision 2013, Bonnie Tyler, has seen a a massive renewed interest in her classic eighties’ song, Total eclipse of the heart, which coincides with the solar eclipse in the USA.

On Monday following the ‘once in a lifetime’ total solar eclipse viewing across the USA, Bonnie Tyler’s former hit single Total eclipse of the heart hit number 1 on the iTunes chart, ahead of the global sensation Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

According to data released by YouTube, views on the video peaked when the eclipse was actually happening, with a high of almost 260,000 views in one hour.

Bonnie Tyler herself was invited to perform the song live on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in honour of the event, which she did on Monday alongside American dance-rock band DNCE.

Bonnie Tyler was internally selected to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song Believe in me.

At the final of the contest in Malmö, she finished in 19th place with 23 points.
