Three countries in Europe have already received the new year 2010. Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan said hello to 2010 some half an hour ago, together with the Russian regions of Samara and Izhevsk, the easternmost Russian territories within Europe. The rest of the Eurovision nations will welcome the new year in the forthcoming hours.
All in all, 2009 has been an exciting year with Moscow and Russia hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. TheRussian television excelled in organizing one of the best Eurovisions ever, withan impressive stage and a magnificent showmesmerising Europeanviewers. A total of 42 countries competed for the grand prix in Moscow. We saw how the the juries were re introduced in the Eurovision Song Contest final in 2009 bringing about many changes in the voting pattern. Many countries opted to send their best bet to Moscow. Artists such as Sakis Rouvas, Hadise, Patricia Kaas, Regina, Noa and Mira Awad, Chiara to name some honoured the Eurovision stage with their presence and participation. The contest received much exposure and showcased itself once more as Europe's favourite television show! A record number of journalists covered the event including BBC News, CNN and the American Oprah Winfrey show.
2010 will be taking us to the land of the fjords, Vikings, Trolls and fairytales. Yes we are talking about none other than Norway. Oslo will play host to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, where 39 countries are scheduled to compete at the Telenor Arena on the 25th, 27th and 29th of May. The theme of contest will beShare the Moment! The 2010 Eurovision season has already kicked off, we already know the names of 6 of the representatives who will battle for the grand prix in Oslo. National finals and special presentation shows are scheduled to be held in all overEuropeinJanuary, February and March.
