TVR, the Romanian broadcaster published today the regulations for the country's upcoming national selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. that will take place on the 6th of March. TVR have introduced a new method this year. A TVR jury will select 12-15 songs from the ones submitted and proceed to recommend performers for them should it be necessary.

Last month, Marina Almasan – Socaciu, coordinator of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 for TVR, held a meeting with people who, over the years, have been involved in one way or another in the Eurovision project. Over 20 people expressed their opinion on how the selection should be organised and the participation of Romania in Oslo: composers, music directors, artistic directors, writers, representatives of record companies, journalists from radios and TV. Their opinions were supplemented with suggestions coming by mail from the editors of the most important sites on Contest including esctoday.com which gave an overview of the Eurovision phenomenon and the selections from each participating country.

TVR published earlier today the regulations and the procedure through which the Romanian representative will be chosen. Registration of the songs started today, 9th November and will last until the 14th of January. The first phase of the prelesection will take place on the 25th, 26th and 27th January when a specialised jury will go over the songs. The jury will consist of 15 people, composers, performers, press, radio professionals and television. Of all the songs that will enter the contest, a minimum of 12 and maximum of 15 will make it to the next phase.The novelty this year is that the jury retains the right to refuse a particular performer on the grounds that they are unknown for example and suggest a new performer they feel might be better for the song.

Between January 28th and February 5th, authors who have received the recommendation to change the interpreters will re-record their creations with new artists. As of February 6th, the songs will be posted on the official TVR website.

Between 6th and 19th February, TVR will make the presentation videos of the finalist tracks and from February 20th to March 5th, 2010, the promotion will take place until the one and only big final on the 6th of March.
