Two Dutch Eurovision Song Contest representatives are nominated for the 2009 Sterren.nl Awards, to be held on December 12th at the Gelredome in Arnhem. Gerard Joling and Jeroen van der Boom will fight with other 8 acts for the “Best Dutch Artist” award. The latter is also nominated for the “Best Dutch Song” award. Votes can be cast online.
Dutch public broadcaster TROS is the organiser for this event, which started back in 2007 with the aim of promoting the Dutch music and culture.
This year, two former Dutch representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest, Gerard Joling (1988) and Jeroen van der Boom (De Toppers, 2009) are in the line-up of the nominnes in two categories: "Best Dutch Artist", for which both of them are nominated, and "Best Dutch Song". Jeroen's Alles min één will fight with other 9 candidates to win this trophy.

Gerard Joling represented The Netherlands in 1988 in Dublin (Ireland) with the song Shangri-la, placing 9th. Jeroen van der Boom, Gerard's successor as part of De Toppers, represented the country this year in Moscow, not managing to reach the final with the song Shine.
