Last August 18, Hugues Aufray, the 1964 Luxembourg entrant, turned 80. This doesn't stop the man from recording and giving performances nearly all year long.
In October, the Aufray will release of a new CD album, entitled New Yorker. It will be a collection of Bob Dylan's greatest songs, most of them in duet with other big names of the French music scene: Laurent Voulzy, Alain Souchon, Eddy Mitchell, Francis Cabrel andLes Wampas (French national selection 2007), to name a few. Former top model Carla Bruni, wife of Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, will also share a song with Aufray.
Hugues Aufray has always been fond of Dylan's music. He recorded a lot of French adaptations of the American folk singer.To celebrate his 50th anniversary as a singer and to promote the CD, Aufray will give two concerts in the Parisian hall Le Grand Rex, next November 6th and 7th. He will also tour the country, as well as the French-speaking territories of Belgium and Switzerland.
Back in 1964, Hugues Aufray represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Copenhagen. With 14 points, his song Dès que le printemps revient placed 4th.
