The Montenegrin representative in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Slavko Kalezić, has been busy filming the official video for his Eurovision entry Space.

“It will be energetic and, most importantly, the focus will be on my habits and what I do as an artist,” Kalezić told Montenegrin press about his video.

The director of the video, Dejan Milićević, says that the video will not be typical of Eurovision songs.

This is ‘artwork’. Slavko is an actor as well as a performer, and this is something which has nothing to do with classic Eurovision videos. So we get to do something which is totally theatrical.

He said he will ensure that Slavko’s energy is showcased.

We want the setting of the video clip to be completely minimalistic, even if the song is upbeat. For one part, we’ve just used a quarry as the backdrop, which works with Slavko as the focus is just on him; the video does not distract.

The author of music and text of the song Space is Momčilo Zeković, and the arranging of the song was done in Sweden.

“The song is galactic, and I sing about love. It is quite different, and we are very pleased. I can not wait premiere of the video and the song,” says Slavko.

RTCG have also announced that their costume designer for Slavko’s appearance in Kyiv will be the decorated Montenegrin designer Marina Banovic-Džuver.

Slavko Kalezić was internally selected as this year’s Montenegrin participant, and this was announced on 29 December 2016. The premiere of his song Space is expected to be on 10 March. It will be sung in English.

Montenegro will compete in the first half of the first semi-final in Kyiv, which will take place on Tuesday 9 May 2017.
