Vania Fernandes, the Eurofan favourite and the lady who managed to get Portugal into the Eurovision Song Contest final in 2008, has consented in having three portraits of hers sold for charity in aid of The Madeiran Sunshine trust in her homeland.

Two portraits of Vania are already done and one more is to be completed by Christmas this year. 51 year old artist Virginia A Leach of Genie Art uses Digital Art for her paintings which are original airbrush creations printed on canvas and signed by the subject. They are then sold to raise money for the Madeiran Sunshine Trust as well as other charities worldwide.

Apart from Vania, Ms Leach has also painted portraits of Model and jewellry designer Cory Bernstein, and international model Hofit Golan. Other artists who have also agreed to be painted by Ms Leach are legendary rock band Pink Floyd, Sheila Bonnick (Boney M), Went Miller, and Jennifer Love Hewitt amongst others. Vania Fernandes herself will be present at the offficial inauguration of the Madeiran Sunshine Trust to be held late August or early September.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
