The semi-final of O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017, the Moldovan national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, has concluded this evening with eight acts qualifying to the next stage of the competition.

Tonight saw the 14 shortlisted semi-finalists competing live to the public and jury for the first time for the right to continue their journey in the national selection.

Voting opened following the performances in which a total of 8 acts qualified to tomorrow evening’s final; four of the acts were chosen by jury vote and four by public televote.

Qualifiers

The first 4 qualifiers of the evening which were determined via the jury are the following:

  1. SunStroke Project – Hey mamma
  2. Ethno Republic & Surorile Osoianu  – Discover Moldova
  3. Diana Brescan – Breathe
  4. Aurel Chirtoacă – Dor de mamă

The remaining 4 qualifiers were as voted for by the public:

  1. Marks & Stefanet – Join us in the rain
  2. Samir Loghin – Glow
  3. Valeria PașaFreedom
  4. Vozniuc feat. Vio Grecu – Don’t lie

This evening we wave goodbye to Emilia Russu, Sandy C, Sergiu Pungă, Big Flash Sound, Nadia Moșneagu and The One.

O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017

Unlike past years, Moldova has chosen to only hold one semi-final in their national selection for this year. The eight acts that have qualified will compete in the final which will take place on tomorrow on the 25 February at 18:35 CET (19:35 local time).

The winner of O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017 will go on to represent Moldova at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest this coming May in the host city of Kyiv.
