Alexander Rybak is back in Norway after capturing the country's third Eurovision Song Contest victory in Moscow on Saturday night. The victory came just minutes into the start of Norway's national day, and thousands of fans were waiting to greet him at the airport on his triumphant return.

Crowds were screaming and singing his winning song, Fairytale, and Alexander had to be protected by several bodyguards as he attempted to make his way through the airport. A scrum of television cameras and radio presenters were waiting to capture the moment as he appeared through the arrivals door to be presented with roses, gifts and an army of adoring fans.

Footage captured by the 2010 national broadcaster, NRK shows the eurphoric atmosphere in Oslo, hottly tipped to be the next host city of the Eurovision Song Contest.

As Alexander's plane touched down in Oslo, fire engines lined the runway, spraying an arch of water for the plane to taxi through. An honour that had earlier been bestowed on Yohanna's flight to Iceland as she landed back in her home country having achieved the country's biggest ever points score and a second place. A brass band also played on the tarmac as the plane docked at the gate.

Outside the airport, thousands more fans had surrounded the Norwegian delegation's coach armed with flags for a man who has broken several Eurovision Song Contest records.

Alexander Rybak is fast becoming tipped to go on to have the most commercial success with a Eurovision entry since Abba's Waterloo and Brotherhood of Man's Save your kisses for me. Fairytale has already hit the top spot in download charts across most of Europe. It currently sits at number three in the UK, is breaking into the Australian top 60 and has started achieving radio play in the United States of America.
