Elena Gheorghe, this year's Romanian representative, discussed within the frames of the farewell press conference of the Romanian delegation, her plans for staging The Balkan girls at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
The concept of the show is a modern interpretation of the Romanian myth of Iele, described as virgin fairies with great seduction power over men, with magic skills, attributes similar to the ancient Greek nymphs.
"The scenary changes in three minutes, as much as it would change in three months. As the sun rises, the atmosphere changes from a misty dark fantastic forest, lit occasionally by a fire fly, to a glittering, full of life forest. The video art design will create a full 3D effect as some brunches are growing and fire flies are passing by" says Mr. Dan Manoliu, the head of the Romanian delegation.
The concept was created by Bobo Barbulescu (film and advertising director), Oana Draghici (art director), Ioana Macarie (choreographer) and Matei Ovejad (visual FX supervisor).
Elena Gheorghe competes in the first semi final to be held on may 12th, with the 14th starting position.
