Belgian singer Jacques Hustin died yesterday at the age of 69. He was a successful singer in his home country, which he represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 1974.

Jacques Hustin has studied art and design and in the 1960s he had some successes as a painter but he also worked as a musician. In 1965, he won the Spa music festival, which marked the begin of his career. In 1974, he was chosen by the Walloon broadcaster to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest. His own composition Fleur de liberté was chosen in the national final among six songs presented. In Brighton, he scored ten points and finished euqal ninth along with Peret from Spain. In 1978, he entered the Belgian national final again with L'an 2000 c'est demain but could not win against Jean Vallée. In the 1980s, he decided to concentrate more on the pictorial arts. Overthe years, hereleased nine albums, the latest best of compilation was released in 1999.
