Tonight, the Ukrainian national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held. 14 acts competed and in the end it was decided that Svitlana Loboda will go to Moscow with the song Be my Valentine.
The winning song was chosen by mixture of jury voting and televoting counting for 50% each. The complete results were:

- Alexander Panayotov – Superhero (22 points)
- Ira Poison – You freed me(22 points)
- Denis Barkanov – You are my love and pain (19 points)
- Tori Joy – Smile (18 points)
- Natalia Volkova – Gush (16 points)
- Hot Chocolate – Kiss (13 points)
- Lenara – Flash (12 points)
- GODO – Zahadayemo Bazhannya (11 points)
- 4 Kings – Tearin' up my heart (10 points)
- Kishe – Midnight (8 points)
- Tetyana Bryantseva – Sweet and sugar baby (5 points)
- Ana – You’re likea paradise (4 points)
Ukraine has been one of the most successful Eurovision Song Contest countries in recent years finishing second the last two years. In 2008, Ani Lorak also won the second semi final with her entry Shady lady.
