The Estonian national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight. Ten acts competed and in the end it was decided that Urban Symphony will go to Moscow with their song Rändajad written by Sven Lõhmus.
The winner was chosen in two rounds. In the first round, a jury and televoting chose the top two before the eventual winner was chosen by televoting alone.

The poll voters widely agreed with the voters in the national final. Urban Symphony finished secodn in the poll with strong 32.3%. The runaway poll winner Laura (42.7%) was eliminated after the first round, but was still the favourite of the televoters.
Estonia is one of only two countries (the other being Estonia) thatcompeted in the semifinal stage of the Eurovision Song Contestevery year since 2004, when the system was introduced, without qualifying. In 2008, the country was represented by Kreisiraadio, who finished 18th and hence second last in the first semifinal. In 2009, Estonia will enter the secondsemi final on 14thMay.
