The show has started.
1. Barbora Balúchová & Red Rose – Nakoniec
Current poll result: 34.5%
The show kicks off with the poll favourite. The band performs a straightforward and catchy pop/rock song that works very well on stage thanks to the simple but effective performance. The vocals are very strong. With a good place in the running order, this song might have high chances of doing well in the Eurovision Song Contest.
2. Nocaden – Na co asi myslíš
Current poll result: 3.4% (=5th)
The second song tonight is a pop/rock ballad. The melody is not very memorable and the very long instrumental parts don't help either. Despite a shaky and quiet vocal performance, the lead singer acts way too self-confident on stage. Furthermore, often it is not very popular if a singer wears sun glasses on stage.
3. Golden Vein
The first very classic rock song with a very classic performance tonight. The melody is strong and so are the vocals. The only problem could be that the style might not be very successful in the Eurovision Song Contest as was shown by the Czech Republic's last place in the 2007 semi final.
4. Quasimondo – 16 barov
Current poll result: 3.4% (=5th)
A very unusual entry that can hardly be described in words. Despite black and white effects, someone playing a flute and a puppet with no strings the music alone is obviously in no way catchy enough to do well at the Eurovision Song Contest. Generally an entry that obviously tries too hard to seem more interesting than it actually is.
5. Zachariáš Hubácek – Bolo bolo
Current poll result: 3.4% (=5th)
A laid-back r'n'b song in a very US American style, which is not always a good omen for a Eurovision Song Contest entry. However, the performance is professional, charming and goes very well with the song. This might be a dark horse tonight but generally not outstanding enough to reach a high position in Moscow.
6. Zuzana Haasová & Funny Fellows – V mojej zime
Current poll result: 3.4% (=5th)
A very interesting and somehow sweet song is now presented, but is gets a bit repetitive after a while. Generally a nice effort, but probably not a hot favourite.
7. Palo Drapák – Kricím na svätých
Current poll result: 0% (=9th)
A blues/rock song is presented now. The vocals is strong, the melody is strong and the performance is authentic. However, songs in that style often do not very well in Eurovision selections.
8. Janais – Taram ta rej
Current pll result: 17.2% (3rd)
A laid-back and straightforward pop ballad that delivers a honest and heart-warming feeling on stage. The performance is very authentic, only the vocals are a little shaky once in a while. A strong entry that still might get lost in the line-up of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with so many ballads. The audience is very enthusiastic about this entry.
9. Miro Jaroš – Malý hlas
Current poll result: 0% (=9th)
A very interesting pop/rock song with a strong performance, good vocals and a lot of fire on stage. This entry obviously has high chances of doing well tonight.
10. Martina Schindlerová – Krídla
Current poll result: 24.1% (2nd)
As mentioned earlier, every Slovakian semi finals seems to have its classy ballad. This one works very well on stage, the vocals and the performance are flawless and the audience reacts in a very positive way.
Results:
Martina Schindlerováand Janais have qualified through televoting. Zachariáš Hubácekis the jury choice.
