The Latvian semifinal takes place on Friday 27th February and the final is scheduled for Saturday February 28th, 2009. The running order is now decided and we have a few changes in the lineup. All twenty songs are now available to listen to online.

Kristina Zaharova who had qualified with two songs in the Euordziesma semi final, has withdrawn one of them when she received news she was one of the six artists to make it to the Irish final. I wish I could pretend is out of the running but her other song, Angel of mine, will be performed by Kristina – in the case she doesn't win in Ireland- together with Annija Putnina. The performers of When the sun is going down and Dinamite who were not known until today are Simply four and Natalija Tomsevica respectively. Also, there are two changes in the already announced performers: In love we trust will be performed by Policistas, a girl band comprising of Ella, Candy and Anmary. Candy was a backing singer for the Latvian Pirates last year in Belgrade. Have to say goodbye will not be performed by the composer, as originally announced, but by Astra.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
